Hello, and welcome to the first FOODIE FRIDAY. Me and Alex have a long standing tradition of eating dinner out each Friday evening, and frequently like to try out the new places in Lexington- be it chain or local.
I’m just going to go ahead and tell you I’m going to be incredibly honest and transparent about my reviews, but it’s just my opinion. I encourage you to try these places out on your own and see what you think about it!
Tonight was the grand opening of Dave’s Hot Chicken in Lexington. *sigh*. Ok, so not going to lie, I wasn’t expecting much and it didn’t exceed my expectations. We opted for to-go so that could have played a part and it’s literally their first day in business, so keep that in mind. The chicken was flavorful, but you need to order at least two levels of spice more than what you think you do. The fries were good not great, but I contribute that to it being to-go. The Mac and cheese – fire. We did the #3 to try both a tender and a slider, and we both liked the slider more. The Dave’s sauce has a heavy mayo flavor, which was kind of just a lot on top of everything else. I would say overall I would give it a 6/10. The sides outshined the chicken – and if “chicken” is in the name of the establishment, it should be the star of the show.
Would I go back? Yes.
Would I go back often? Probably not.
Let me know in the comments below your thoughts! I would love to hear about your experience there and if you have any places we should check out next Friday!
